What is G10
G-10 is created by stacking multiple layers of glass cloth, soaked in epoxy resin, and by compressing the resulting material under high pressure and heat until the epoxy cures. It is manufactured in flat sheets. G10 is very durable and ideal for the production of fins. The fins are then cut from the G10 sheets using a CNC milling machine.

Bad Quality G10 Fins
To save time and money some manufactures partly cut G10 fins using a CNC machine and then finish the fins by grinding and sanding by hand. In some cases manufactures try to maximize the amount of fins cut from each sheet. This results in fins being cut at varying angles out of the sheet and each fin having different fibre alignment. All this results in inaccuracy and inconsistency thus every fin is slightly different. In some cases poor quality G10 material is used resulting in durability issues.

Good Quality G10 Fins
Zulu G10 Fins are made from the highest quality G10 available. The design of the fin takes into consideration the fibre alignment and flex character of the G10 material so that the fin has the correct twist and bend. The CNC milling process is usually a lengthy 6 to 12 hour process depending on fin size. There is no hand sanding or finishing except for a final polish. This allows for an extremely accurate machined finish resulting in a fin with high performance and consistency.
